Deep Thoughts: March 2012

Just got back from buying trip in NYC and it’s been so long since I went on this trip.  It felt so good to be back in the city and inspiring to bring back in some of the great collections only available on these trips.  The PL girl is evolving right now, getting more refined and chic and needing even more unusual garb to take her style to the very next level for her lifestyle.  I’ve been inspired by the weather, the food, the energy of the city, the fashion, the women, the window displays, the amazing vintage and re-sell and even the work ethic.

How lucky we are to live in such a mellow city, I don’t think I always appreciate the ease of lifestyle we have.  I’m definitely going to now.  As a buyer, the travel can be a lot for PL but every time I’m finished I am thankful for the opportunity to be meeting new people, seeing new life and traveling always refreshes me emotionally, not necessarily physically but it reminds me how important it is to get out of our “bubble” and see more of life and the world to keep our own reality in perspective.

Deep Thoughts: February 2012

With February here what comes to your mind?

I think of all those great Valentine’s Day memories from childhood, the memory of all those valentine’s behind my school desk, an extra special one from a particular someone, the days I had a Valentine, times I didn’t - all those thoughts come back to life and I feel warm inside to have this experience.  Now that I have a little girl growing up in this world, I’ll have the compassion to help her through the fantastic and not so fantastic Valentine’s Days that roll up as she gets older.

This holiday also reminds me of LOVE, LOVE of God, LOVE of friends, LOVE of the earth, LOVE of ourselves and LOVE of Family & THE LOVE of my life, Oleg.   LOVE is wonderful and if we went about our days with more love in our hearts and minds how much better the days and years could be.

I hope everyone has a February filled with LOVE.

Deep Thoughts: January 2012

With the new year here a friend couldn't have sent this to me at a better time for self reflection.  I had to share it with all my beloved Pink Lagoonistas.

The new year is a great time to look back and reflect, learning from the good and the bad and growing deeper to your sense of self.  You are the only person who can take control of your life and your ultimate destiny.  I know for myself it's been a process and still is to understand and live that truth.  We put faith in people and situations.  Although when we look inward and up we truly transform to our best selves.  I am so thankful to all of you for an amazing year.  Thank you for all your support and loyalty and for making dreams come true.  We have so many exciting things on the horizon for 2012.  smile  I wish you all so much peace and joy as you enter this new year.

XOXO- Jenny & the PL Team

Deep Thoughts:

An attitude of gratitude and I LOVE OPRAH

With the passing of the Thanksgiving Holiday I am feeling very thankful and very grateful for health, family & friends.  I’ve been enjoying Oprah’s life-class on her new network OWN this fall, and what a relief to me that she is back on TV, I was literally heartbroken when I found out she was stopping her show after 25 years.

It sounds silly but she was like a 2nd mother to me my whole life.  I learned so much from watching her shows about life.   It’s not a secret that meeting Oprah is on my personal “bucket list.”   I’m putting the energy out there at this very moment that one day I will meet Oprah.

I know she’s an inspiration, almost spiritual leader to many women out there not just me.  Ok, back to gratitude.   It’s much harder than it sounds to wake up each day, go about your day with purpose and to think about all that you are thankful and gracious for than everything that you feel you are lacking.  It’s a conscious effort that each of us should try to make each day.  Buddha says we are what we think.  If we are gracious, confident and kind that is what we will attract.

What I also love about Oprah is that she talks about life and everything that happens, the good, the bad – it’s all to teach us something we didn’t know and that’s how I like to lead my life.  Her master class talks about surrendering to the universe or God for answers.  I agree.  It’s too much sometimes to think you are the end all, it’s too much pressure, some things we need to leave up to faith and trust, she says “god may dream a bigger dream than you had for yourself.”  I love that, how inspiring.

I won’t continue to blog every month about Oprah, even though I could probably be president of her fan club.  She is a great teacher and my inspiration for the month.  If you aren’t already watching her life class on the Own Network, I strongly suggest you DVR it.  Her lessons are great and inspiring.  She constantly reminds me that we are all, around the world, more similar than we are different.

She’s always recommended a gratitude journal – I’ve never done it, or really ever kept a journal but I’m thinking this could be the time to start.  My baby step will be to start to recap daily in my mind all that I’m grateful for before bed.   Here’s a start…

I’m thankful to all of you who are reading our blog; I hope it’s inspiring you.  I am grateful to all of those who have opened there homes, and selves to us Pink Lagoon girls to make you look and feel more beautiful from the inside out.  I’m thankful for living in such a beautiful place.  I’m thankful for all the wonderful women I get to meet each day, and the great people I get to work with each day.  I’m thankful for rainbows, laughter and good conversation.

I hope everyone enjoyed his or her Thanksgiving Feasts.  Xoxo  Jenny

November Deep Thoughts

Pink Lagoon is Growing:
This last month has taught me a lot.   Giving birth to a second location and expanding our team has really taught me how mindful we must be while growing in business and in life and how important it is to align our business growth with our personal growth.

It’s amazing to me now and looking back how as a person and entrepreneur my personal growth has occurred while growing PL.  It’s a blessing and now a way of life that I’m grateful for each day.  It inspires me to release fear and welcome growth and change into my life daily.  It’s how we deal with challenges and obstacles that really define our character.

What I’ve realized about woman in business is that the balance in all aspects of our life is so important to us.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the grand opening of the La Jolla store this Friday to celebrate with you all.

“Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become.”

Recent Shots from my Photoshoot:

I am very use to and LOVE to style woman for their lives.  This day the cameras got turned on to me.  Awkward but fun, Enjoy!  Now back to reality. HA

I went for a couple different looks and these are mixes of PL pieces/styles. my own pieces and vintage.

Top right I am in a Patterson J. Kincaid blouse, my own skirt and vintage jewelry. This is my office/work/professional attire. Maintaining a composed look but still adding my own style with the great jewelry and a fun printed top.

Second to that is my "glamour" look. Very Marilyn Monroe meets Audrey Hepburn. Nothing is more glamourous than a great fur or faux fur jacket and a tight LBD.

Last is my bohemian chic look. A grogeous etherial 12th St by Cynthia Vincent Maxi Gown and baubles of my own. Loosely waved hair for that fairy princess look. Chic, effortless and glam.

Pink Lagoon, Wardrobe Design and Styling boutique is the product of my love for business, fashion and lifestyle. I often tell my wardrobe design clients that building your personal style and wardrobe is much like cooking a meal, you need the right balance of ingredients or decorating your home, you don’t need 6 coffee tables in a room. This concept of balance in all aspects of your life but specifically your wardrobe is my passion and calling. It inspires and fuels me each and everyday. It’s not about over consumption it’s about true personal style and every single one of us has it, sometimes it takes a professional to help you ignite it for yourself. With Pink Lagoon, this concept is now accessible. Sometimes someone else will see something beautiful in us that we tend to overlook. You deserve to get personal with yourself in this way and I promise when you do it’s a rewarding experience. When you come into Pink Lagoon, tell us where you are going on vacation, what you have planned next week, what’s held you back from making fashion part of your life and what kind of looks you need help styling. My stylists and myself look forward to meeting and styling you soon.
